Our Founder and Creative Director
Since 2012, Emily has being involved in leading backing choirs for television shows including the X Factor at Wembley, ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ and ‘ITV’s Your Face Sounds Familiar’. Emily has led choirs behind the scenes for the BBC Gospel Proms at Royal Albert Hall, and shared the stage with artists such as Melanie C, Alfie Boe, Bill Bailey and Sarah Brightman. As a choir leader, she has taken her own community choirs to great heights including the finalists for BBC Songs of Praise Gospel Choir of the Year, and 1st runners-up for University Gospel Choir of the Year in 2013 – coming away with three prizes, including ‘Best Unsigned British Gospel Songwriter’ of the year for her original piece entitled ‘Unashamed‘. Personal accomplishments include performing as a grand finalist at the Open Mic UK 2012 competition as part of the duet, ‘Em & Anna’.
Since founding ‘Motivation by Music’ in late 2014, Emily has brought fun and accessible gospel singing workshops to many companies and organisations including Sony Music, Harlequins Rugby Union, Military Wives Choirs, HMP Send, the University of Surrey and Surrey Business School. She runs two weekly community Gospel Choirs: the MbM Gospel Choir and the Parkinsons UK Gospel Choir who both perform a variety of gospel music including Emily’s own songs and arrangements. These choirs are available for performances.
Emily currently sings as a member of the prestigious and award-winning ACM Gospel Choir under the leadership of Mark De-Lisser, and has sung with Karen Gibson‘s Kingdom Choir. She runs monthly ‘Living Room Sessions‘ for local singers workshopping her original gospel music.
Emily has the unique ability to discern, challenge and motivate individuals in the development of self-confidence and leadership abilities, whilst enabling a sense of community to be built and sustained in the group. Emily is both passionate about – and experienced in – investing in people from both musical and non-musical backgrounds, and creatively explores music as a universal language that can break down both cultural and linguistic barriers. She is self-reflective, adaptable and innovative in her approach. Emily’s heart is to connect people to people – enabling all to experience the power of the gospel for themselves, and her enthusiasm is infectious as she teaches and motivates.
Emily was awarded the 2016 Young Business Woman of the Year.
